Wild Wednesday

Well I honestly don't have much to post today cause we are busy here making the packages for the cards. I do have a little something I wanted to shout about is that I am down 5lbs since I got back on doing my weight watchers and that is since Monday. I am a little sore and my stomach is not very happy with me but I am feeling better than I was on Monday. I hope everyone has a great hump day and I hope to have something to post for you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by.

Wet Tuesday

What a yucky dull day. Cloudy and cold not a great combination but have to say happier that it is rain than snow. So not a lot  going on here other than everyone is starting to get bored inside. I think we are going to have to make some room in the basement and bring some bikes down there to burn off some energy. Plus we do have to start working on our printing and recognition of ABC's.

As for now I have been getting things ready for the workshop while the kids are doing various things. Today was I supervising the dancing while rolling the paper for the quilled wreath on this card. There is where the quilling took place. I am going to quill the pieces and the ladies can assemble them in the wreath.

Here is another card that I am going to have for the ladies to purchase it is the same as yesterdays but with different colours. I just forgot to give a few detail yesterday about the card. As it does look embossed it is actually just a sticker that is an outline that I coloured, cut out and popped up on foam on the card. The scalloped border is Stampin ups and the saying is a stamp I snagged out of the dollar bin at Michaels. I hope everyone is having a good day and hope you enjoyed the and see you back her soon.

Monday Again!

I  mean we all new it was coming yet again just wasn't really ready for it, lol. So the cards for the workshop are chosen and now it is only a matter of getting them cut and bagged up. Now of course I don't have enough to do with getting ready for the workshop I decided to do more. One of the things I thought I would do is make up a few extra cards with all my spare time and offer the ladies those to purchase if they like, along with some address labels that I made up to dress up the envelopes too. I hope everyone enjoys but I am prepared to use them on my own envelopes if they don't, lol. Thanks for checking in and talk to everyone soon.

Friendly Fridays

Well the week has finally come to and end. Also the voting for my Christmas card workshop closes tonight and I will know what cards I need to prepare for the class by which cards people like. It is kind of exciting cause I know I have my favorites but to see what you ladies prefer will be good too. Not sure about anyone else but this will be a busy weekend. The weather man says it will be double digits for the temperature so hoping to get my husband up the ladder to do the Christmas lights. Then there is also volleyball practices and dance class. The girls are going to love it once I tell them but I am also going to need help with the Christmas decorations in prep for my class and the Christmas Season. I would not normally have the house dolled up before Dec 01st but since the first is a week day I am mellowing to the idea. I will post pictures of the house decorated on a later date.
Here is my new card holder displaying the cards that the card workshop will vote on. I hope you enjoy and if you want a closer look at any one card you can view in the later posts. Have a wonderful weekend thanks for checking in I really appreciate the support.

White Wednesday

Well we all knew it was coming, at least they say it won't stay. The kids were disappointed that it wasn't enough to cancel the buses. Thank goodness for that. A little early in the year to be getting snow days already but that is just my opinion, lol. The kids that are here today are very anxious to play outside, I figure I will take them out before we have to pick up our kindergartners from the bus and let them push the snow from the driveway around. Only about 5cms so not too bad, enough for them to push around.
So I have a card to show you today that I don't believe I have posted yet. Now the colours in this one do need to be tweaked. I think when and if we do make this one I will switch the base to red, the frame to green and the mat under the frame the the cream. Plus in addition I will probably make the house a touch smaller so that it fits in the frame better. Thanks for looking, and as long as I don't end up with another headache this afternoon I will be posting some more cards tomorrow and Friday. I was a little naughty and bought some second hand Christmas stuff yesterday and so I am wanting to play with them and see what I can come up with. I hope everyone that has to drive goes carefully and I appreciate you stopping by. Enjoy!!

Slow but Steady

Well I know I have missed posting yesterday and I honestly had full intention to do so till I was struck by a headache in the afternooon. I just couldn't sit at the computer screen and wait for the pictures to load, so I will do that today. Honestly I am not sure what brought it on but I have heard that many people yesterday were experiencing aches and pains yesterday as well. I have to wonder if we all had a built in alarm that is trying to tell us all that the not so nice weather is coming. Starting tonight into tomorrow we suppose to be getting ice pellets and anywhere from 2 to 10 cms of snow. Which means tomorrow it could be a little crowded at home. So you might see a post from me or not, have to wait it out and see.
Anyhow I took a little time from making my cards for the ladies to make at the workshop to try a recipe for 16 cards out of three pieces of 12x12 paper. Since I am in Christmas card mode that is the theme my cards too. I did use basically the same ink through out the whole set of cards, and that was close to my hearts juniper and tulip. The patterned paper and the blue paper is from the stack Tis the Season from DCWV. I believe it was purchased last year. The cream coloured card stock that was used for the image and the base is Recollections from Michaels. The images and sentiments are a combination of Stampin Up, Close to my heart, and the dollar bin at Michaels. I hope you enjoy.

Now I am sure that you are wondering if I have made all these cards and have also made the sample Christmas cards for the workshop exactly how many people do I send cards too? Lo,l honestly I really wanted to try this recipe for the 16 cards and have though since finishing them that what I would do is see if any of the ladies at the workshop want to buy them and then if not I will send some to the people on my list that are not as wow'd by homemade cards and then also some in a package of cards I make for my in-laws each year. Both my mother in a law and my husbands aunt enjoys sending out homemade cards. I think they both like being able to say that their daughter or neice in a law made them. So again I hope you enjoyed this post and I am going to try and get some more cards done tonight to post tomorrow. I appreciate you looking and hope to see you again soon.

TGIF

Thank goodness it is Friday!! I am pretty sure we are all saying that. Isn't it weird how some weeks just seem to drag along and others are so busy that you blink and it is over. Anyways I am happy to have a weekend ahead, not only is it going to be nice to sleep in but also it is going to be an exciting weekend. I have friend who is selling off her scrapbook and stamping supplies since she no longer uses them and is kind enough to pass them along to others she knows will give them some TLC. Then I will be off with my sister to the Signature craft show in the new Ottawa Congress Center. If any of you have been you know there are some great things there for anyone's Christmas list. Lastly we have decided to go see the Help Santa Toy Parade in downtown Ottawa. It is suppose to be a mild night so it will be nice to stand with our hot chocolates, or latte in the adults case and watch all the pretty floats. Should be nice since I recall the parade in past years being during the day so it will be nice to see the floats all lite up.
Any how I do have another Christmas card to show off today. Now I am sure from the picture it doesn't look very traditional with the colours for the holiday but there is something that kind of reminds me of Christmas. The wreath was another quilled creation I played with yesterday. The plain card stock is from Recollections, pattern paper is Lillybee Design, and the strips for the quilled wreath as well as the pattern was from Quilled Creations.  The red bling on the wreath is from the dollar store. The scallop circle is nestabilites and the circle was one called cookie cutters from quickutz. The sentiment is close to my heart and the label that holds the sentiment is papertrey ink matching stamp and die set Label Basics. I appreciate you looking and checking in on me. Hope you have enjoyed and have a wonderful weekend, I do hope to be able to post this weekend too during the down time. Take Care

Is it Friday yet?

Well not sure how many of us woke up saying that this morning, but wow I could so use a weekend right about now. Weather has turned chilly here and so the kids are not wanting to play soccer in the backyard, which any other parents out there know mean lots of niggles, arguments and tears. The kids don't have a good time either. So I have been playing with the kids and trying to keep the disagreements to a minimum. But I do have a card that I can show you today. Not sure if this one is offered up for the workshop or not, depends on the response to it. If you are not familiar with the paper technique called quilling or "paper filigree", is the craft of curling, bending and arranging small strips of paper to create beautiful and detailed artwork. Now not sure if you want anymore background than that, but if you do you are more than welcome to comment and ask. So the poinsettias on the card were quilled and glue doted to the card. The ribbon which I mistakenly used gold instead of silver to match my words is Stampin Up and the words are a sticker from Class A Peel Stickers by Stampendous. The paper as always is Recollections. I have to tell you I did make the bow on the ribbon with my bow-easy and the cheater method of wrapping and taping the ribbon. The second card I have is using the elf from a stampendous set of mix and match winter friends. Recollections paper is our card-stock and the patterned paper is DCWV "Tis the Season" paper stack from last year. Scalloped circle is spellbinder as well as the circle inside the scallop. The ribbon is Stampin Up as well as the border punch is as well Stampin Up. This card was inspired by the sketch from the website Mojo Mondays. Just leave a message in the comment section if you would like the website. I hope you enjoy and that your Thursday goes by quickly. Thanks for checking in.

Another Card for Hump Day

Well where do I start. I went to a talk last night by Dr. Mamen about raising resilient children. And I do have to say oh my goodness it was so good. I wasn't so sure about how this would help me, or if any of the information would even relate to me. Well, it was funny and informative. Honestly it really made me feel like I was raising my girls the proper way. It really was a great relief to have someone stand up and reinforce that we are doing ok. Now there were a few things that Dr Mamen said that kind of hit home as and "ok so that is how I should handle that" moment, which I hope will make me a better parent. So now on the fun stuff. Today I have another crafty thing for the bazaar and a Christmas card.

Well have to tell you my husband wasn't a huge fan of this one. His comment was that this wasn't very Christmasy. I agree it is not traditional colours. We have recollections paper used, some Stampin Up ink and saying, plus the ribbon is Stampin Up. Top note die from Stampin Up was used as well but since I do not own a big shot it was used in my cuttlebug. The stamped image is from sunshine designs, and I coloured it with my bic markers.

Now this is a hot chocolate package slider. I have made about 10 of these for the school Christmas bazaar. These were made again with Recollections paper. I do apologize because I don't recall the company that produces the moose stamps. I do know that it was last years. Hero Arts is the company that makes the Celebrate the Season stamp. I coloured him again with my bic markers and the ribbon is Stampin Up real red.
I hope you have enjoy stopping by, and hope that your humpd day goes smoothly since it is all down hill now till the weekend. Take care and I appreciate you all for checking in.

Christmas Cards #3

So I have a few more cards today and a craft for the kids school bazaar. But have to say that I am finding it hard to post these samples everyday so you will probably only see a post every second day with the Christmas Card workshop cards. I will try to write a quickie post to let you know what is going on and maybe include a craft project that I have done.
Alright so on to the projects for today. The first one is the Snowman Soup for the bazaar. What happens is the kids school collects gently used items and craft items to sell to raise money for the school. The cool part is that the kids get the chance to buy an item for their family on their own.  I know last year Rosie was only in grade 2 and she was so proud and excited that she had picked out a gift for me on her own and kept it a secret from me till Christmas morning. Oh of course I should tell you it was a ceramic vase. It now sits on top my china cabinet with some artificial flowers in it. Sorry got side tracked!

The Snowman soup is basically a hot chocolate package with a candy cane, marshmellows and a small chocolate bar. Very easy to make, just takes a legal size envelope, a crimper and some stamps. This is one of the items I know sells very well at the sale so have made 36 for this year. The stamp set is Stampendous and the snow flakes are all Stampin Up. I coloured it with both tombow and bic markers. Snowflakes were stamped with Stampin Up ink.

This Santa card uses Recollections papers and K&Company patterned paper. The stamp is a Penny Black slapstick stamp. He was coloured with bic markers then highlighted with some copics and stickles. The ribbon is Stampin Up and the Merry Christmas stamp was a dollar bin buy at Michaels. You can't tell in the picture but Santa is pop dotted up with dollar store pop dots.

Well this post is getting a little longer than I had planned so I think I will save the other card I had to show till tomorrow. I hope everyone has had a good start to the week and I appreciate you stopping by to check in on me. Hope to see you back here tomorrow.

Another Chirstmas Card

Well it has been an nice and relaxing day here, hope you are all enjoying the same. This next card I have to show kind of came together on its own. See I am just waiting around here to drag my husband to a Christmas craft fair at a local highschool and so thought I should get my bottom in gear to make another Christmas card for my workshop. I had instructions to make a card with a penguin on it, which I will post another day, but was not sure how much time I had till hubby would be ready. Since I had cut out this stocking a few days ago and still had not placed it on a card I placed it on the card base for the penguin and think I came out pretty well. I don't usually do shapped cards like this but think it came out pretty well. Have a great Sunday and I appreciate you all for checking in.

Supplies used for card were as follows:
Recollections paper
cricut and cartridge
stickles glue
stampendous stamp
atg gun adhesive

I'm Sorry

Well I have to apologize for not posting yesterday, I do have a few good reasons. Of course I am not going to sit here and list them of course. I do have to tell you I was moved to tears at the wonderful Rememberance Day ceremony at the girls school. One of my favorite parts aside from hearing my beautiful girls singing was the fact that it was so full of parents. The seating was full so it was only standing room at the back of the gym. Also it was wonderful to see that so many cultures can come together on such an important day and celebrate the veterans that sacrificed for all of us. Thank you, and as my husband put it I can't remember or even know what veterans did for us but I will never forget what they have given up for me to be able to have my freedom!!!
Alright now that I have said my little piece on to the crafty stuff. I am happy to see such a wonderful response to my Christmas card workshop in Dec. I am hoping since my numbers are growing that I will have enough seating. Since I did miss posting yesterday i do have two cards for you today to look at. The first one has a cute little Santa which was cut with the cricut. He has not been glittered as of yet I was hoping for some feedback as too if anyone thinks he needs it or if we should leave him unglittered. Card number two is one that I am fond of myself. She is also cut from the cricut and as you can see she is having a good time making her snow angel. Unfortunately what you don't see in the picture is that she wobbles while making it. I hope you enjoy the cards today and do promise to have another one tomorrow. The other thing I will be adding to my posts are the crafty little items I am making for the school's Christmas Bazaar. I appreciate everyone for checking in and hope that all is well where you are. Thank you!!

Long Post But Worth It!!!

So, I have been checking out a few other blogs and many ladies and some gentlemen out there start their postings out like they are just writing in a journal not as a letter post where they are addressing anyone. Looks like a different way to post and maybe a little easier than always having to figure out how to address their readers. Sometimes I feel like I am always saying the same thing over and over again each day. In saying that I think maybe I will try the next couple of posts like a journal entry rather than a letter. Who knows maybe it will keep me posting more often and easier to post what is going on. I was never that great at a pen pal anyways, lol.
Now I have been working on Christmas cards this last week for an upcoming Christmas Card workshop I have been doing the last couple of years. A few of my closer friends have asked for me to do it again saying they enjoy the chance to get together.  Looks like it could become an annual Christmas tradition. I don't mind really, it is nice to see everyone over the colder months plus it pushes me to design my own cards in the process plus the kids love that it means the house gets it holiday decorations up earlier. My goal for the next few days and probably the next week or so too is to post the cards I am designing and giving my guests the chance to vote on the four or five they like best. That way I can use the cards that were not voted on for my own stash.
So today I have the last of the ABC book photos and one of the Christmas cards. I hope by starting the Christmas cards  this early it doesn't jinx our beautiful weather. I am so loving the mid teens we are having and the kids are loving being able to still kick the soccer ball in the backyard. The supplies for the ABC book is the usual stickles, Recollections paper, ATG gun adhesive, and dollar store bling.

This Christmas Card was made using some Recollections plain and patterned paper, the snowman is a Stampin Up set, the sentiment is a Close to my Heart set, there is glitter glue used as well as dollar store bling. The scalloped circle and the circle were both cut with spellbinders dies. Hope you enjoy and watch out tomorrow for our next two Christmas card choices. I appreciate you taking the time to look and hope your day goes great!!

Do You Know Your ABC'S?

Hello again,

More ABC's

 Good Morning,

Just a quick check in and to show you some more pages of the ABC books. I do have another book to make that is why we are still posting. But I have decided again this year to do another Christmas Card workshop. This is where I have a few ladies over to make some pre-fold and prepared cards for a set price. It seems to quickly becoming an annual Christmas tradition in our house. I do enjoy the chance to get together since it does get busy during the Christmas season and gives everyone a chance for a night off of running around. So I will be starting to decide on different cards for the class and will be posting them for some suggestions and opinions on what you think. Thanks as always for checking in and I appreciate all the comments that you leave. Have a great day chat soon.

Post Halloween

Good Morning,

Hope not too many of us are waking up to a sugar coma headaches. I really think the kids enjoyed themselves and am so pleased that the weather turned out so nice for our little trick or treaters. As always our two went door to door with their Dad and have a fabulous time. Rosie never wants to go as long as Katie and Chris do but wants the benefit of the candy. Can't believe either it seems those little goblins start earlier and earlier each year.  I just wanted to post a couple of pics from our Halloween, the first one is of our girls picking out their pumpkins. Next up is the transformation from pumpkin to scary jack-o-lanterns. Very pleased this year that the girls have started to clean and cut their own so that Chris and I can avoid the mess. But of course we are the ones left cleaning up. Our next picture up is my little Halloween trick or treater that I am very pleased to have scored at Michaels a few weeks ago. And of course lastly is a pic of my two little goblin's. Thanks for checking in and that you and yours had a safe and Happy Halloween.
